The Machine Learning Pathway

What is Machine Learning?

What powers the fancy AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools that we're able to use today? RAM (Random Access Memory) helps with loading the models (which is why RAM prices are through the roof), but that's not what really powers the thinking behind recommendation algorithms such as Google. Companies that are deploying just about anything in this day and age are probably using something called Machine Learning. Machine Learning gives computers the ability to learn without humans giving explicit instructions, in the form of programming, or general input. It's a subfield of AI, however the terms have almost become interchangable at this point.

Machine learning is the backbone behind AI technologies, since people now want computers to be able to mimic human actions. However training a machine to do things similarly to humans requires complex mathematical models and a lot of time and resources. For example: A computer recognizing unique images of billions of humans may be a too difficult to take on using brute force. That's why there are different approaches to this type of problem. The base-level of this topic requires deep knowldedge of math since many models are built on top of statistical models.
